• D: SSE-KMS can work only if the solution creates and configures the appropriate KMS key or multi-Region key replica in each Region. Replication also requires additional KMS permissions and destination encryption configuration.

• Key difference: DirectQuery leaves data in the on-prem SQL Server and queries it live.
