When an object is being raised against gravity, work is being done. Gravity is the force that must be overcome to lift an object. The amount of work done is determined by how high the object is lifted and the mass of the object. The higher an object is lifted, the more work is done.
If each book in the diagrams has the same mass, which diagram shows the most work done?

  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
  5. E

Answer(s): E

Transpiration is the evaporation of water produced during photosynthesis from the parts of a plant exposed to air, especially from its leaves. The rate of transpiration varies among species of plants, as seen in the table below.

Which statement best explains why the transpiration rate of a cactus is so much lower than that of a rose bush and a dogwood?

  1. The cactus has adapted to dry climates through greatly reduced leaf surfaces.
  2. The cactus contains parasitic insects that are consuming the water in the plant's roots.
  3. The rose and the dogwood are water plants, so water cannot evaporate from their surfaces.
  4. The dogwood transpires more than the rose because the dogwood's roots are deeper.
  5. The cactus is not a plant, so it does not produce water during photosynthesis.

Answer(s): A

It is a great collection but I have noticed that some answers are wrong. For example, it says that correct answer is B but the description of that answer matches with answer A. So it is advisable to read the answer's description as well.
