A project team is deciding on the impact of a proposed concrete walkway.
Which of the following will be impacted as a result of adding the walkway?

  1. Site's impervious cover
  2. Project density calculations
  3. Erosion and sediment control plan during construction
  4. Air quality as a result of off gassing that occurs as concrete cures

Answer(s): A

Explanation:

Adding a concrete walkway will increase the site's impervious cover, which is the percentage of the site area that does not allow water to infiltrate into the ground. Impervious cover can affect the site's stormwater management, heat island effect, and habitat quality. The project team should consider using permeable paving materials, vegetated roofs, or rain gardens to reduce the impervious cover and mitigate its impacts. The other options are not directly impacted by adding a concrete walkway. Project density calculations are based on the floor area ratio and the number of occupants, not the site features. Erosion and sediment control plan during construction is required for any site disturbance, regardless of the type of material used. Air quality as a result of off gassing that occurs as concrete cures is not a significant issue for outdoor applications, and can be minimized by using low-emitting concrete products.

For a bicycle network to demonstrate compliance with Location and Transportation Credit, Bicycle Facilities, the bicycle network must connect to

  1. five bicycle trails
  2. at least eight diverse uses
  3. a restaurant, a grocery shop, a post office and two bus lines
  4. a rapid transit stop that is within 3 mi. (5 km) biking distance of the project boundary

Answer(s): D

Explanation:

According to the LEED v4: Building Design + Construction Guide, the bicycle network must connect to a rapid transit stop that is within 3 mi. (5 km) biking distance of the project boundary. This is one of the options to meet the requirement for Option 1: Bicycle Network and Storage. The other options are to connect to at least 10 diverse uses or to connect to a school or employment center that is within 3 mi. (5 km) biking distance of the project boundary.

The use of lead, mercury, copper and cadmium should be limited because they all

  1. are persistent bioaccumulative toxins
  2. reduce the life cycle assessment of a building
  3. take an unreasonable amount of energy to recycle
  4. interfere with the magnetic instruments in a medical building

Answer(s): A

Explanation:

According to the LEED v4: Building Design + Construction Guide, lead, mercury, copper and cadmium are examples of persistent bioaccumulative toxins (PBTs) that should be limited in building products. PBTs are substances that remain in the environment for long periods of time, accumulate in living organisms, and pose health risks to humans and wildlife. One of the prerequisites for the Materials and Resources Credit, Building Product Disclosure and Optimization - Material Ingredients, is to reduce the use of products that contain PBTs above certain thresholds.

A LEED Building Design and Construction: Schools project pursuing Location and Transportation Credit, Green Vehicles elects to follow Option 2. Green Buses or School-Owned Vehicles.
What action must the project take to meet the Option 2 requirements?

  1. Install a preferred drop-off lane for buses meeting the emission requirements
  2. Provide calculations showing that the average fleet bus meets the emission requirements
  3. Inventory the school fleet to develop and create a plan for all buses to meet the emission requirements
  4. Document that all buses serving the project achieve a minimum green score of 30 on the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) annual vehicle rating guide

Answer(s): C

Explanation:

According to the LEED v4: Building Design + Construction Guide, Option 2 of the Location and Transportation Credit, Green Vehicles requires the project to inventory the school fleet to develop and create a plan for all buses to meet the emission requirements. The plan must include a timeline for implementation and a budget. The emission requirements are based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards for heavy-duty vehicles.

@ Anonymous , Yes, I have taken this course and I used the questions from this site to prepare. But please note that they don't give you access to all of the questions. You get about 50% of them the rest you need to purchase which I did. For me it was worth it.

For those who have recently passed the CISSP Exam (in 2025), are these questions still valid? Did you see any of these questions (verbatim) on the actual exam?
