EC-Council 312-50 Exam Prep
Ethical Hacker Certified (Page 64 )

• Correct answer: LACNIC (A)

• Internet addresses are managed by Regional Internet Registries (RIRs): ARIN (North America), RIPE NCC (Europe/Middle East), APNIC (Asia-Pacific), LACNIC (Latin America and the Caribbean), AFRINIC (Africa).
• Panama is in Latin America, so the IP’s registration would be in LACNIC.
• Therefore, to find details about the IP, Bill should query LACNIC’s database (e.g., via a whois query or a LACNIC WHOIS web service).

• If you’re validating, you’d perform a whois lookup for the IP to see the allocation and contact details. Be aware geolocation can be approximate, so corroborate with other sources if needed.

• New investment: $536,500
• Resulting NPV: $0

• GPS coordinates
• Date and time the image was taken
• Camera or device information
• Image dimensions and software used

• Log data: Records generated by systems or applications, not normally embedded in image files.
• Encrypted data: Information intentionally encoded to prevent unauthorized access.
• Sensitive data: A broad classification, not the specific type of information being extracted.

• B — The glass core component is encased in a cladding.

• D — Light is transmitted through the core of the fiber.

• BNC connectors are associated mainly with coaxial copper cabling, not standard fiber connections.
• Data does not pass through the cladding; the cladding helps reflect and contain the light.
• RJ-45 connectors are used with copper Ethernet cabling, not fiber-optic interfaces.

• A — Improved management of storage space: Correct.

• B — Improved supplier relationships: Correct.

• C — Improved pricing decisions: Correct.

• D — Non-product-specific costs must be apportioned: Incorrect.

• E — Profitability of each customer group: Incorrect.

• Error correction (ECC): Improves data reliability but does not maximize bandwidth.
• RAM voltage: Increasing voltage may affect stability or speed, but it is not the primary method for increasing module bandwidth.
• Physical module size: Refers to the capacity or form factor of the RAM, not its data-transfer bandwidth.

• Streams — track change data for tables or views.
• External tables — reference data stored in an external cloud storage location.

• Role — account-level security object.
• Warehouse — account-level compute resource.
• User — account-level security object.

• Consequences if targets are missed

• SOW (Statement of Work): Defines the project’s scope, tasks, deliverables, and schedule.
• MOA (Memorandum of Agreement): Describes the responsibilities and commitments between parties.
• MOU (Memorandum of Understanding): Documents a general mutual understanding or intent, often before a formal agreement.

Step 1: Calculate the rights issue price

Step 2: Calculate the number of new shares

Step 3: Calculate the value after the issue and project

• Rights issue proceeds: $21.6m
• Project NPV: $5m

Step 4: Calculate the theoretical ex-rights price

• Labels control access and protection, not blanket exclusion.
• If the user has permission to open a labeled file—especially if the label allows authenticated users to view it—Copilot can use that file in a summary.
• If the label applies encryption and the user lacks the required usage rights, Copilot should not use the file or reveal its contents.
• Copilot honors the user’s existing permissions, so it should not expose labeled content to an unauthorized user.

1. Create Workspace2 with Lakehouse2 — F
2. Migrate the Employee table to Lakehouse2 — E
3. Assign the data engineer the Contributor role for Workspace1 — D

Why

• Sharing Lakehouse1 would not provide the required isolation.
• Viewer access would not allow writing to Customer.
• Giving Contributor access to Workspace2 would expose the sensitive table.

1. Write a structured log entry to CloudWatch Logs containing:

1. Create a CloudWatch Logs metric filter that:

text
ApiRequests
Operation=GetOrders
ResponseCode=500
Version=2.4.0

• B is incorrect: CloudWatch Logs Insights queries analyze logs but do not directly publish metrics in this manner.
• C is incorrect: ALB access logs do not contain arbitrary Lambda response metadata as custom fields.
• D is incorrect: X-Ray traces and insights are not the appropriate mechanism for creating these custom, dimensioned application metrics.

• The CSV contains the external users’ email addresses.
• The bulk invitation feature supports inviting many guest users in one operation.
• Each invited user becomes a guest account in contoso.com.

• Amazon S3 as the origin for static content
• Application Load Balancer (ALB) as the origin for dynamic content
• Amazon Route 53 configured to point the company’s domain name to CloudFront

• /static/* ? S3 origin; cache content at edge locations
• Dynamic paths such as /api/* ? ALB origin; forward requests to the EC2 application

• Dark web: A place where leaked credentials may be sold or shared, not usually the original source.
• Threat feeds: Collections of intelligence about threats, not a typical leakage source.
• State actors: A type of attacker, not an accidental corporate disclosure source.
• Vulnerability databases: Track known vulnerabilities, rather than leaked credentials.

user<TAB>action<TAB>status

text
user|action|status

• Colons: Although colons commonly appear in log data, they are not a supported delimiter choice in the FX workflow described by this exam question.
• Spaces: Spaces are not treated as a supported delimiter for this extraction method; ordinary text often contains variable spacing.

• Crash cart: Provides local physical access, not remote access.
• Jump box: A secured intermediary used to reach devices over the normal network; it may be inaccessible if the appliance has not booted.
• Secure Shell (SSH): Requires the device’s operating system and network services to be running properly.

• User2 is in Group1, so CA2 applies.
• CA2 targets Office 365.
• CA2 requires MFA OR an app protection policy.
• User2 has no app protection policy, but if User2 successfully completes MFA, the OR condition is satisfied.
• The device being noncompliant does not matter because CA2 does not require device compliance.
• CA1 applies only to Global Administrators. Unless User2 is also a Global Administrator, CA1 does not apply.

• Marketing users: Dynamic Forms can show all fields.
• Support users: Field visibility rules can display only the Support preference fields on the record page.
• Reporting: Both profiles can still report on all fields because Dynamic Forms controls page visibility, not the underlying field access.

• A — Two record types and page layouts: Page layouts can control field placement and editability, but they are less flexible for conditional field visibility and would not be the best fit here.
• C — Muting permission set: Permission-set muting is used with permission-set groups; it does not conditionally hide fields on a page.
• D — Field-Level Security: FLS would remove field visibility at the security level. If fields are hidden by FLS, users generally cannot report on or access those fields, conflicting with the requirement that both users report on all data.

• D — Value analysis: Correct. It examines an existing product to identify ways of reducing its cost while still providing the required functions, quality and reliability.
• E — Kaizen costing: Correct. It involves making continuous, small improvements and cost reductions while the product is already in production.

• Functional analysis: It is not limited to minimizing the cost of the originally defined functions. It examines what functions are required and how they can be provided at the lowest overall cost.
• Value engineering: Usually applies to the design and development of a new product, rather than being a fundamental redesign of existing organisational processes. That description is closer to business process re-engineering.
• Target costing: The target cost is generally established during the product development stage, before production begins. It is not continuously reset while the product is in production.

• AWS Network Firewall can inspect and block traffic across a VPC when traffic is routed through the firewall. A Drop action rule can deny traffic from the suspicious source IP.
• GuardDuty findings are sent to Security Hub.
• A Lambda function can be invoked when Security Hub receives a new GuardDuty finding, extract the source IP, and update the Network Firewall policy with a blocking rule.

• GuardDuty threat lists: Used to identify or increase the severity of findings; they do not directly block VPC traffic.
• AWS WAF: Protects supported web applications, such as CloudFront or Application Load Balancers. It does not provide general VPC-wide traffic blocking.
• GuardDuty suppression rules: Suppress or hide findings. They do not block the suspicious traffic.

apex
for (Account updatedAccount : Trigger.new) {
    AccountTriggerHelper.notinyxternalSystem(updatedAccount.Id);
}

• Too many callouts: The callout occurs asynchronously in the future method, and each future transaction can perform its permitted callouts.
• Too many SOQL queries: The SOQL query is inside the future execution, not repeatedly in the trigger transaction.
• Callout from triggers not supported: Direct callouts from triggers are prohibited, but the trigger delegates the callout to asynchronous Apex, which is the correct pattern.

• STIX: A standardized format for exchanging cyber-threat intelligence.
• OVAL: A language and framework for describing and assessing system vulnerabilities and configuration issues.
• Threat intelligence feed: Provides current indicators or threat information, but is not specifically a reference for common application exploitation techniques.
• CVE: A catalog of publicly disclosed vulnerabilities, identified by unique CVE numbers.

• 10 minutes have elapsed, or
• 20 MB of accounting data has accumulated

• A — Tables
• B — Named file formats
• C — Schemas
• E — Databases

Why these are correct

• Tables: Can be cloned using CREATE TABLE ... CLONE. The clone initially uses zero-copy cloning, so storage is shared until changes are made.
• Named file formats: Can be cloned as database objects, preserving the file-format definition.
• Schemas: A schema and its eligible objects can be cloned.
• Databases: A database and its eligible schemas and objects can be cloned.

Why the others are incorrect

• Shares: A share is an account-level data-sharing object, not a normal cloneable database object.
• Users: Users are security principals and cannot be cloned with CLONE.

• Existing Eventhouse data: remains available only in the KQL database.
• Data ingested after enabling the feature: is copied to OneLake and can be accessed through OneLake file explorer.
• New databases: are irrelevant; the setting applies to the selected KQL database.

• IRR assumes that interim cash flows can be reinvested at the project’s own IRR. This may be unrealistic, especially when the IRR is very high.
• MIRR assumes reinvestment at a specified rate, usually the company’s cost of capital or another realistic reinvestment rate.

• B: MIRR does not specifically favour projects with long payback periods.
• C: MIRR and IRR can rank competing projects differently.
• D: MIRR is not always higher than IRR; it may be higher or lower depending on the cash flows and reinvestment rate.

• Treatment one – easier to prepare: Convenience for the accounting team is not the main objective of financial reporting.
• Treatment two – fair representation: This is the correct choice because financial statements must faithfully represent the underlying transaction and its economic substance.
• Treatment three – maximises profit: Accounting policies must not be selected simply to manipulate or inflate reported profit.
• Treatment four – easier to understand: Understandability is important, but it cannot justify presenting information that is less faithfully represented.

• Third-party attestation: Provides independent confirmation, often for formal compliance reporting, but is not usually performed frequently.
• Penetration testing: Attempts to exploit vulnerabilities; it focuses on technical security, not overall compliance procedures.
• Vulnerability scans: Identify known technical weaknesses in systems, but do not evaluate whether policies and processes meet compliance requirements.

• Instant messaging/chat: Can be abused to send malicious links or attachments, but P2P file sharing is the more direct high-risk source.
• E-mail: A common malware delivery method, but this question specifically emphasizes an application type associated with direct file exchange.
• End-to-end applications: This describes communication protection or architecture, not a specific application category known for malware distribution.

• Layer 1: Check cables, power, and link lights.
• Layer 2: Check switching, VLANs, and MAC learning.
• Layer 3: Check IP addressing, routing, and gateways.
• Higher layers: Check services, applications, and user settings.

• Create a plan of action: Decide how to implement the fix.
• Implement the solution: Apply the selected fix.
• Verify functionality: Confirm the problem is resolved and systems work normally.

• SQL injection: Manipulates database queries through application input.
• XML external entities (XXE): Abuses XML parsers to access files, internal systems, or other resources.
• Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF): Tricks an already authenticated user’s browser into sending an unwanted request. It generally does not steal session cookies.

• Document feeder: A scratch, dirt, or debris on the feeder glass or rollers can create a line on every scanned image.
• Pickup rollers: Move paper through the printer; they would not normally create a scanner-only line.
• Corona wire: Affects toner charging and would cause defects on printed output.
• Drum assembly: Also affects printed pages, so faxes and computer print jobs would show the line too.

• JobTitle: User1 and User3 only
• UsageLocation: User1, User2, and User3

• For a user whose source of authority is Windows Server Active Directory, attributes such as JobTitle are synchronized to Microsoft Entra ID. You must change them in on-premises AD; editing them in Entra ID is not allowed or will be overwritten.
• UsageLocation is a cloud-managed attribute used mainly for licensing and service availability. It can be set or changed in Microsoft Entra ID, including for synchronized users.

• B: Extending credit to customers increases receivables, so more cash is tied up in working capital.
• C: Replacing obsolete inventory does not reduce the overall inventory investment; it simply changes its composition.
• D: Paying suppliers earlier reduces payables. This uses cash and therefore increases the funds tied up in working capital.

• Standardize which services users can deploy
• Apply governance and access controls
• Manage approved product versions
• Give users self-service access to authorized resources

• AWS Control Tower: Sets up and governs a multi-account AWS environment.
• AWS Cloud Map: Provides service discovery for applications.
• AWS Clean Rooms: Enables privacy-preserving collaboration on data analysis.

• Deterrent control: The signs warning people they may be filmed discourage unauthorized or malicious behavior. They may prevent incidents by influencing behavior, but their primary purpose is to deter.
• Detective control: The CCTV system monitors and records activity so security personnel can identify suspicious or unauthorized actions.

• Preventive: Blocks or prevents an incident, such as a lock or access-control system.
• Corrective: Fixes or restores systems after an incident.
• Directive: Tells people what they must do, typically through policies or procedures.
• Compensating: Provides an alternative control when the preferred control cannot be used.

• Incident and problem management
• Change management
• Service-level management
• Configuration management
• Continual improvement

• Kanban: A workflow and task-visualization method; useful within service teams but not a complete service-management framework.
• Lean Six Sigma: Focuses on reducing waste and process variation; broader process-improvement methodology.
• ITSM: The overall discipline of managing IT services, not a specific framework or process model.

• Denial-of-service: Prevents users from accessing a service; it does not normally redirect them.
• Social engineering: Manipulates people into taking an action, such as clicking a malicious link, but does not directly alter DNS resolution.
• ARP spoofing: Associates the attacker’s MAC address with another device’s IP address on a local network. It can intercept traffic, but the described website redirection is most specifically DNS poisoning.

• Microsoft Purview portal: Create and manage sensitivity labels and configure support for sensitivity labels used with Office files in SharePoint and OneDrive.
• SharePoint admin center: Primarily manages SharePoint settings. Older guidance and PowerShell procedures used SharePoint tenant configuration, which can make this question confusing.
• IRM: Concerns Information Rights Management and is a separate protection mechanism; it should not be used to identify the portal for configuring Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels.

• Custom domains are supported.
• It provides dedicated compute instances.
• It offers enough storage for the applications.
• It supports multiple instances with load balancing between them.
• It is less expensive than higher tiers such as Premium.

• Free and Shared use shared compute and have limited storage, so they cannot meet the dedicated-instance requirement.
• Basic provides dedicated compute and custom domains, but the question’s requirement for the broader multi-instance/load-balancing capability is intended to point to Standard.

• Matching hashes: The software likely has not changed.
• Different hashes: The software was modified or corrupted.

• Encryption: Protects confidentiality by making data unreadable; it does not primarily detect changes.
• Baselines: Define an approved system or configuration state, but they are not the specific integrity mechanism here.
• Tokenization: Replaces sensitive data with substitute values.

• B — Data source settings in Power BI Desktop:

• D — Formula bar in Power Query Editor:

m
  Excel.Workbook(File.Contents("new path"))

• E — Advanced Editor in Power Query Editor:

• A: Dataset settings in the Power BI service mainly handle credentials and gateway settings, not changing the local file path embedded in the PBIX.
• C: Current File data-load settings control refresh/load behavior, not the source location.

• Customize Opportunity Contact Role
• Add the Opportunity Contact Role related list to the Opportunity page layout

• B — Notify affected business units: Notification should follow an initial determination of scope and impact; otherwise, the organization may communicate incomplete or inaccurate requirements.
• C — Assess noncompliance risk: Risk assessment requires understanding the regulation’s requirements first.
• D — Inform senior management: Management should be informed, but with a clear summary of the regulation’s impact, risks, and recommended actions.

• To identify the number of errors: select Column quality. It shows the percentage and count of Valid, Error, and Empty values for each column.
• To resolve errors: use the appropriate error transformation:

• Act as the default gateway for devices in that VLAN
• Route traffic between different VLANs
• Provide management access to the switch

• CSIRT: A team that responds to and manages security incidents.
• CVSS: A scoring system for rating the severity of vulnerabilities.
• SOAR: A technology platform for automating and coordinating security operations and incident response.

• Self-signed certificate: Causes a browser security warning, not incorrect name resolution.
• Nameserver record: A DNS problem would typically affect multiple users, not just one workstation.
• IP helper: Relays services such as DHCP across network segments; it does not resolve website names.

• Identifies which user or department owns the device
• Supports inventory and compliance requirements
• Enables tracking of lost, stolen, retired, or unauthorized devices
• Helps enforce security controls such as mobile-device management and secure configuration
