EC-Council 312-50 Exam Prep
Ethical Hacker Certified (Page 71 )

• Correct answer: LACNIC (A)

• Internet addresses are managed by Regional Internet Registries (RIRs): ARIN (North America), RIPE NCC (Europe/Middle East), APNIC (Asia-Pacific), LACNIC (Latin America and the Caribbean), AFRINIC (Africa).
• Panama is in Latin America, so the IP’s registration would be in LACNIC.
• Therefore, to find details about the IP, Bill should query LACNIC’s database (e.g., via a whois query or a LACNIC WHOIS web service).

• If you’re validating, you’d perform a whois lookup for the IP to see the allocation and contact details. Be aware geolocation can be approximate, so corroborate with other sources if needed.

• /27 (255.255.255.224)

• /26 (255.255.255.192)

• /25: Creates only 2 subnets, not 3
• /28: Provides only 14 usable hosts per subnet

• SQL injection
• Cross-site scripting (XSS)
• Malicious or malformed web requests
• Some application-layer attacks

• Layer 4 firewall: Filters based mainly on IP addresses, ports, and transport protocols; it cannot deeply inspect web application content.
• NGFW: Provides advanced network filtering and may include application awareness, but a WAF is more specifically designed to protect web applications.
• UTM: Combines several security functions in one appliance, but it is not the most targeted solution for a web portal.

• A — Consumption-based pricing: AWS generally uses a pay-as-you-go model. You pay for the resources you consume rather than purchasing hardware upfront or paying for unused capacity.
• C — Economies of scale: AWS purchases and operates infrastructure at a very large scale, allowing it to reduce costs and pass some savings to customers through lower service prices.

• Perpetual licenses: These involve paying once for permanent software ownership and are not a primary AWS Cloud economic benefit.
• AWS Enterprise Support at no additional cost: Enterprise Support has an additional charge.
• Bring-your-own-hardware model: AWS provides and manages the underlying cloud infrastructure; customers do not normally bring their own physical servers.

• DB1 (500 TB): Azure Data Box Heavy

• Virtual machines: Azure Migrate

• Key-based authentication: Provides an endpoint secured with API keys.
• Real-time REST access: Supports online inference through an HTTP/REST endpoint.
• No VM vCPU quota consumption: Microsoft hosts and manages the underlying infrastructure, so your subscription’s VM quota isn’t used.

• Batch: Intended for asynchronous, large-volume processing rather than real-time requests.
• Self-hosted container: You manage the infrastructure and typically need compute resources and quota.
• Standard: This is not the clearest deployment type for the stated requirements; the specific Foundry option is serverless API.

• VLAN 10 for data
• VLAN 20 for voice

• A: Describes physical trunking or logical switch ports, not an SVI.
• B: An SVI can provide management access, but that is only one use—not the best description here.
• D: SVI use is not related to running out of physical ports.

• Custom domains: Supported by Basic and higher tiers.
• Dedicated compute: Basic and Standard use dedicated virtual machine instances; Free and Shared use shared infrastructure.
• Load balancing between instances: Standard provides scaling across multiple instances with load balancing.
• Storage: Standard provides more storage than Basic.
• Cost: Standard is the least expensive option that satisfies all the stated requirements.

• Free/Shared: Use shared compute and have limited features; they don’t meet the dedicated-compute requirement.
• Basic: Provides dedicated compute and custom domains, but does not provide the required Standard-level multi-instance capabilities in the exam’s feature comparison.

• Virtual introductions: Team members share their role, experience, location, and working preferences.
• Online icebreakers: Short, informal activities such as “two truths and a lie.”
• Virtual coffee chats: Pair team members for informal, non-project conversations.
• Collaborative problem-solving: The team works together on an online puzzle or scenario.
• Retrospectives: The team discusses what went well, what did not, and how to improve.
• Working-agreement sessions: The team agrees on response times, meeting etiquette, communication channels, and handoffs.
• Recognition sessions: Members acknowledge one another’s contributions.
• Remote workshops: Teams jointly create plans, diagrams, or schedules using collaboration tools.

• Crowd-sourced evaluation: Requires recruiting and managing many evaluators.
• Human-worker evaluation: Provides human judgment but requires coordination, labeling instructions, and quality control.
• RLHF: Is a training and alignment process, not simply a low-overhead model comparison method.
• Automatic model evaluation: Quickly evaluates outputs using predefined toxicity or quality metrics with minimal manual effort.

• Feedback form: Captures opinions, not necessarily actual behavior; users may not respond.
• Questionnaire: Relies on memory and subjective judgments about usefulness.
• Interviews: Can provide valuable qualitative insights, but a sample of users may not represent overall usage accurately.

1. Yes — Microsoft Foundry provides a secure, governed environment for building and managing generative AI applications and agents. It brings together models, data, tools, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.

• Share files with the wrong people
• Use public links unnecessarily
• Fail to classify sensitive data
• Upload data to unauthorized services
• Misunderstand company sharing policies

• A — Step-up authentication: Helps protect administrator accounts, but does not directly address improper file sharing by users.

• MOA (Memorandum of Agreement): Describes cooperation and responsibilities between parties.
• MOU (Memorandum of Understanding): Records a general mutual understanding, usually without detailed enforceable service targets.

• A. Adjust resolution: Incorrect because an incompatible resolution usually causes no display, distortion, or an unsupported-mode message—not intermittent flickering.
• B. Swap the HDMI cable: Correct. Replacing the common, easily tested component is the appropriate troubleshooting step.
• C. Replace the projector: Incorrect because the issue also occurs with a monitor.
• D. Configure refresh rate: A mismatched refresh rate can cause visual problems, but the repeated flicker across displays points more strongly to the cable.

• Internal audit: Reviews the organization’s own controls and processes.
• Penetration testing: Actively tests systems for exploitable vulnerabilities.
• Attestation: A SOC 2 report is an attestation product issued by an independent auditor, but the analyst is not performing the attestation. They are reviewing it as part of vendor evaluation.

• PEM: A format and standard commonly associated with encoded certificates and keys.

• Crash cart: Provides local physical access, not remote access.
• Jump box: A secured intermediary used to reach devices over the normal network; it may be inaccessible if the appliance has not booted.
• Secure Shell (SSH): Requires the device’s operating system and network services to be running properly.

• Unsafe images: Requires image/content moderation before the image is processed.
• Hidden instructions embedded in images: These are indirect prompt injections contained in untrusted image content or extracted text, not necessarily in the user’s typed prompt.

• If the attachment is safe, it is released to the user.
• If malware is detected, the attachment is blocked or removed according to the policy.
• This reduces delivery delays without disabling malware scanning.

• Replace removes the original attachment and replaces it with a text file explaining that it was blocked. It does not primarily optimize delivery time.
• Block and Enable redirect blocks messages with suspicious attachments and can redirect them for review; it does not provide the required faster delivery experience.
• Monitor and Enable redirect is for observation and does not reliably block malicious attachments.

• The table is large.
• Queries frequently filter or join on particular columns.
• The table’s natural data order does not support good micro-partition pruning.
• Clustering improves performance enough to justify its maintenance cost.

• Actions that call external APIs
• Subflows
• Connection and credential aliases
• Supporting integration logic

• Action — A reusable operation within a flow, such as “Create a record” or “Send email.”
• Connection — Defines how ServiceNow authenticates and communicates with an external system.
• Integration step — A general flow step, not the name for the packaged integration.

• Remote and global work: Access is based on the approved device, not a specific office or geographic location.
• Seamless login: Users may not need to repeatedly enter credentials on a recognized device.
• Limited equipment: It uses devices employees already have rather than requiring separate hardware.

• Geotagging: Restricts access based on location and may prevent legitimate remote work.
• Smart cards: Require issuing and managing additional physical equipment.
• Time-based logins: Limit access by time and do not provide a seamless authentication experience.

• One network address
• Two usable host addresses—one for each router
• One broadcast address

• Router A: 10.2.1.1
• Router B: 10.2.1.2

1. It examines the source MAC address and learns it on the incoming port.
2. It examines the destination MAC address.
3. If the destination MAC is already in the MAC/CAM table, it forwards the frame only through the associated port.
4. If the destination MAC is unknown, it performs unknown-unicast flooding:

• Configure row-level security (RLS) using the sales region and the HR manager’s identity.
• Publish the reports and datasets through a Power BI app.
• Grant the HR managers permission to use the app, but do not add them as workspace members.
• App users can view and interact with reports while RLS limits them to their region.
• They cannot modify the report layout because they do not have workspace editing permissions.

• Adding them to the workspace gives them workspace permissions that may allow report or dataset changes, depending on the assigned role.
• Creating copies is unnecessary and creates maintenance and security problems.
• Hosting datasets and reports in different workspaces does not, by itself, provide the required controlled access.

• Scanning is not essential during a power outage.
• A scanner can consume UPS battery power without helping the user save cloud documents or shut down safely.
• The UPS should be reserved for the computer, monitor, and necessary network equipment.
• The surge protector helps protect the scanner from voltage spikes, but it will not keep it running during an outage.

• Honeypots: Decoy systems or services designed to attract attackers. Legitimate users should not access them, so activity there is a strong indicator of compromise.
• DNS sinkholes: Redirect malicious or suspicious DNS requests to a controlled destination. This can identify infected systems attempting to contact command-and-control infrastructure.

• Tokenization: Replaces sensitive data with non-sensitive tokens; it is not an attacker-detection method.
• CI/CD: Automates software development, testing, and deployment.
• Threat modeling: Identifies potential threats and weaknesses before or during system design; it does not directly detect an active infiltrator.
• Data obfuscation: Makes information harder to understand, but does not identify attackers.

• Bronze: Raw ingested data
• Silver: Cleaned, validated, and transformed data
• Gold: Business-level data for analytics, dashboards, and reporting

• Maintain head office control: Transfer pricing generally supports decentralisation rather than direct head-office control.
• Establish centralised decision making: This conflicts with divisional autonomy.
• Develop a top-down culture: Transfer pricing is intended to support empowered divisions and goal congruence, not impose purely top-down management.

• Penetration test: Tests for exploitable vulnerabilities; it does not provide a broad opinion on whether security controls operate effectively.
• Annual self-assessment: Not independent, so it provides less assurance.
• Allow each client the right to audit: Inefficient because every customer may conduct a separate audit, creating duplicated effort and disruption.

• Future costs — Only costs occurring in the future can be affected by the investment decision. Past costs are sunk and irrelevant.
• Incremental costs — These are additional costs caused by choosing the investment. They are relevant because they differ between alternatives.
• Cash flows — Capital investment decisions are based on future cash inflows and outflows, usually discounted to present value.

• Committed costs have already been agreed or incurred and generally cannot be changed by the decision.
• Unavoidable costs will arise regardless of which option is selected, so they do not affect the choice.

• Architects design overall Splunk infrastructure and data strategy.
• Administrators manage configuration, access, and system operations.
• Knowledge Managers create and maintain knowledge objects such as data models, field extractions, and event types. They may support pivots, but they are not the primary users of them.

1. Create Workspace2 with Lakehouse2 — F
2. Migrate the Employee table to Lakehouse2 — E
3. Assign the data engineer the Contributor role for Workspace1 — D

Why

• Sharing Lakehouse1 would not provide the required isolation.
• Viewer access would not allow writing to Customer.
• Giving Contributor access to Workspace2 would expose the sensitive table.

• CBWFQ (Class-Based Weighted Fair Queuing): Creates traffic classes and assigns each class a guaranteed bandwidth or queueing treatment.
• PQ (Priority Queuing): Uses multiple queues with strict priority. Higher-priority queues are serviced before lower-priority queues, making it useful for delay-sensitive traffic—but it can starve lower-priority traffic.

• FRTS: Traffic shaping for Frame Relay; it controls the transmission rate rather than selecting packets during congestion.
• CAR: Polices traffic by rate, typically dropping or remarking packets that exceed a limit.
• PBR: Policy-Based Routing; it selects forwarding paths and is not a QoS queueing mechanism.

• Escape to host: A virtualization attack where code escapes a guest VM and accesses the host system. Nothing in the scenario mentions virtualization.
• Browser extension: Can redirect or manipulate web-browser traffic, but not normally database-server traffic.
• Valid accounts: Describes using stolen or compromised credentials, not redirecting network traffic.
• Process injection: Injecting malicious code into a legitimate database or networking process could allow an attacker to alter how that process handles outgoing traffic.

• A: Not expanding would increase its dependence.
• B: More business from the same corporation would make dependence worse.
• D: Passing work to other minority businesses does not solve its own dependence.
• E: The passage does not suggest that it can force or influence the corporation to give work to others.

• Set credit quotas for an account or individual virtual warehouses.
• Define monitoring intervals.
• Trigger actions when usage reaches thresholds, such as sending notifications or suspending a warehouse.
• Help control unexpected warehouse spending.

• Account Usage: Provides historical usage and billing data; it does not enforce credit limits.
• Warehouse Limit Parameter: Not the Snowflake object used for account-wide credit controls.
• Credit Consumption Tracker: Not a standard Snowflake object.

• PaaS: You deploy applications without managing the underlying operating system or VM infrastructure, such as Azure App Service.

• MFA: Protects sign-in and authentication.
• Azure Key Vault: Protects deployment secrets and credentials.
• Answer: No (B).

• Formatting: May remove file-system references but often leaves recoverable data.
• Degaussing: Uses a magnetic field to erase data, but can damage or make magnetic drives unusable.
• Defragmentation: Rearranges data for performance; it does not securely erase information.

• The Azure DevOps (Boards only) connector is designed specifically for Azure DevOps Analytics views.
• It authenticates directly to Azure DevOps and lets you select an existing Analytics view.
• Filters defined in the Analytics view are applied by Azure DevOps before Power BI retrieves the data, reducing the amount of data transferred.

• Azure DevOps Server (Boards only) is for on-premises Azure DevOps Server.
• OData Feed can consume OData endpoints, but it is not the dedicated Azure DevOps Analytics-view connector.
• OData queries are not the intended dedicated connector for this requirement.

• D — Creation of tactical solutions: Governance establishes direction and oversight; tactical solutions belong to management and operational teams.

• Internal hostnames and subdomains
• Network structure and naming conventions
• Servers and services
• Relationships between systems

• Determining ISP-assigned address space: Usually involves external registration and DNS information, not internal host discovery.
• Bypassing DNS sinkholing: Would require evidence that malicious DNS requests avoided redirection.
• Initial access: DNS queries alone do not show that the attacker gained access.
• Exfiltrating data: DNS tunneling can do this, but the snippet would typically show encoded or unusually long DNS queries.
