In a wide-open space where the sound does not reflect off any surfaces (no reverberation), the SPL decreases by roughly 6 dB every time the distance from the source is doubled (NFPA FPH 14-30). (3 mm) can, under the right set of conditions, result in a flash fire or explosion (see FPH pg 11-31) Anonymous
