Overview of the Novell Upgrading to Novell Open Enterprise Server for NetWare Exam Exam
Novell exam 50-701 validates the technical competencies of NetWare administrators transitioning existing infrastructure to Novell Open Enterprise Server. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in migrating NetWare 6.5 services to the OES platform while integrating eDirectory, iManager, and Novell Storage Services. Technical requirements include configuring Dynamic File Services, implementing Domain Services for Windows, and managing heterogeneous file and print environments via NCP and CIFS protocols. The assessment focuses on post-migration validation, kernel-level service migration, and the orchestration of Linux-based back-end services alongside legacy NetWare volumes. Success requires mastery of OES platform deployment, service-level interoperability, and the secure administrative management of converged network resource architectures.
