The Sybase IQ 12.6 Professional Exam evaluates database administrators and systems engineers on the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of the Sybase IQ analytical server. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in managing column-based storage architectures, implementing multiplex configurations for high-availability querying, and executing complex data loading procedures using bulk-load utilities. Assessment criteria focus on index management—specifically HG, LF, and FP types—performance tuning through query plan analysis, and database administration tasks including object security, backup recovery strategies, and transaction log management. Mastery of IQ-specific SQL extensions and bit-mapped indexing techniques remains essential for validating candidate expertise in maintaining high-performance, large-scale decision support environments.
