Answer(s): B

Explanation:

The original sentence A is a run-on. The comma incorrectly separates two independent clauses that could each stand alone as a sentence. A semicolon in place of the comma would be a simple fix, but this is not an option. B is well-structured by placing some of the information about Douglass in a nonessential clause set off by commas. C turns out to be a long sentence fragment with the word “who” beginning a dependent clause. D and E. are complete sentences, and are both much more awkward than B, which is the correct choice.

Because the car is powered by hydrogen energy is why it does not require gas.

  1. energy is why it does not require gas
  2. energy, therefore it does not require gas
  3. energy, it does not require gas
  4. energy, gas is not required by the car
  5. energy is why gas is not a requisite

Answer(s): C

Explanation:

The word “because” is supposed to set off a dependent clause ending with a comma, but A and E do not do this, making these choices incorrect. B has the right sentence structure, but it unnecessarily adds the word “therefore.” D puts the sentence in passive voice, making it more awkward and less effective than C, which is the correct answer.

Charlie Parker’s saxophone playing was like a bird in flight, earning him the nickname “Bird” and a place in jazz lovers’ hearts.

  1. earning him the nickname “Bird” and a place in jazz lovers’ hearts
  2. a characteristic that earned him the nickname “Bird” as well as placing him in jazz lovers’ hearts
  3. the nickname “Bird” was a result of this along with a place in jazz lovers’ hearts
  4. which simultaneously earned him the nickname “Bird” together with a place in the hearts of jazz lovers
  5. the nickname “Bird” and a place in jazz lovers’ hearts the result

Answer(s): A

Explanation:

The original is the clearest and most concise way to express the idea. B and D add extra verbiage, so they are incorrect. C creates an independent clause after the comma, which results in poor sentence structure. E is short and concise, but it does not make sense without a connection to the first part of the sentence.

Food critics often dress in disguises, which is helpful for maintaining anonymity when visiting a restaurant.

  1. disguises, which is helpful for maintaining anonymity when visiting a restaurant
  2. disguises helpful to maintain anonymity when visiting a restaurant
  3. disguises, for maintaining anonymity when visiting a restaurant, which is helpful
  4. disguises, a help for maintaining anonymity when visiting a restaurant
  5. disguises to help maintain anonymity when visiting a restaurant

Answer(s): E

Explanation:

There is an agreement error in A between “disguises” and “is.” Changing “is” to “are” would be a solution, but this is not offered to you. B starts a possible change, but it goes awry with “to maintain,” which is awkward following “helpful.” C. is extremely awkward – be wary of multiple clauses set off by commas. D is a complete sentence, but it is not as efficient as E.

Unless you use these so called exam dumps to prepare for your exam you are not going to be able to pass your exam. The questions are tricky, confusing and very hard.

In my opinion, they work well for me, but it depends on how you approach them. My method isn't about memorizing the exact questions and answers from the practice tests to use on the real exam. Instead, I focus on understanding why I got certain questions wrong so I can deepen my comprehension of the material.

I did not want to not to book my test and walk into a test center without being prepared as this exam is very hard. So I studied and used the full/paid version of these questions and passed my exam.
