Passage 1
“It is obvious that the legal driving age in the United States needs to be adjusted. Although the driving age has been sixteen for many years, studies show that kids of such a young age are not yet capable of understanding the deep responsibility that comes with operating a motor vehicle. Sixteen-year-olds, while old enough to see R- rated movies, are still children in many ways. Psychologists agree that people of this age do not have the cognitive awareness to make major life decisions, yet operating a vehicle on the road forces them to do just that. If the driving age were to be raised to eighteen, there would be far fewer accidents and casualties on the American roadways. People must understand that sixteen-year-old drivers are a danger to themselves and others when allowed to drive unsupervised.”

Passage 2
“The legal driving age in the United States has remained the same for many years for one primary reason: it is fair and reasonable.
While young, sixteen-year-olds are certainly old enough to undertake the responsibility of driving alone. Because these teenagers are made to practice for a year with a learner’s permit and then to pass a test proving their skills, there is no reason to suggest that they cannot handle a motor vehicle effectively.
Those that assume that sixteen is too young to drive often forget to consider the large number of responsibilities teenagers already handle on a day-to-day basis in today’s world. Things like homework, after- school activities, family responsibilities, and social events all must be carefully maintained in order to make life work. If a sixteen-year-old can handle these daily responsibilities, they can certainly handle driving a car. The legal driving age is fair and should not be negotiated, now or ever.”

Which of the following arguments were not made by the author of the second passage?

  1. Teenagers have shown that they can handle responsibility through school and social activities.
  2. Teenagers use a learning permit for a year to prepare for driving alone.
  3. Teenagers must pass a test before being allowed to drive.
  4. Teenagers learn from watching their parents drive for many years.

In what way do the authors’ themes relate to one another in the two passages?

  1. The authors are concerned with two different issues.
  2. The authors are passionate about the same issue, but have contrasting opinions.
  3. The authors both care about the driving age and agree on the same stance.
  4. Both authors think teenagers have a lot of responsibilities in their daily lives.

“Marketing is the activity of facilitating exchange of a given commodity for goods, services, and/or money for the purpose of delivering maximum value to the owner of the commodity. From a societal point of view, marketing is the link between a society’s material requirements and its economic patterns of response. Marketing satisfies these needs and wants through exchange processes and building long-term relationships. The exchange process is the act of obtaining a desired object from someone by offering something of value in return. The exchange between the person in need (i.e., someone who offers money or some other personal resource) and the organization selling the product, service, or idea results in a transaction. The top goal of any marketing organization is to facilitate and help increase sales transaction by convincing potential consumers and existing customers to buy their company’s product or service. With the emergence of the Internet and e-commerce during the 1990s, the nature of the marketing exchange for businesses and customers has changed drastically. Today’s consumers have access to far more and far better information. They also have many more choices.
Businesses must provide personalized, relevant and high quality content that competes with a fast, ever- changing competitive landscape.”

“Defining Marketing.” Boundless Marketing. Boundless, 20 Sep. 2016.

Using the definition in the passage and the example in the chart, choose the answer that describes what happens to both parties in the exchange process.

  1. The buyer receives money while the restaurant offloads unnecessary product.
  2. The buyer loses money without gaining goods.
  3. The restaurant makes a profit without losing any supplies.
  4. The buyer receives food while the restaurant receives a monetary profit.

Someone left a comment stating that this guide is not free. I'd say using this digital format, not the PDF document, is free. I'd also add, with all due respect, that no one should expect to receive a freebie study guide in the mail without a price, and that is because such documents do cost the producers some money.
