Import Data from Configuration Packages
For larger implementation work, you can set up solution-specific configuration packages.

Step 2: Import one Excel template..

Incorrect:
* Import two separate Excel files into the package,...
There is only one Excel file to import

Step 3: Define the Vendor table as a parent in Parent Table ID for Vendor The Vendor table is the parent table.

Parent Table ID

We can use this option when certain data depends on other as in the headers and lines of a document. First we need header data to create the lines. For example, the order number is required to be created on the header to be carried after to the lines.

In other words, the headers must be processed first and then the lines.

Step 4: Select Apply package on the header
Apply Package

`Apply Package' is the final step when we want to import data into the system. Once we have inspected the package and fixed the errors we can run this option.

DRAG DROP

A company implements Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The company stores master data for vendor opening balances in an Excel file. Most of the vendors use a foreign currency for open balances. The balancing account is preselected on the journal batch.

You need to import the vendor opening balances by using configuration packages.

Which four actions should you perform in sequence? To answer, move the appropriate actions from the list of actions to the answer area and arrange them in the correct order.

Select and Place:

  1. See Explanation section for answer.

Answer(s): A

Explanation:

Step 1: Create a configuration package for table 81 Gen. Journal Line. How to Create Journal Entries via the Configuration Package in Microsoft 365 Business Central?

Entering multiple General Journal lines in Business Central is a time-consuming task. However, you can take advantage of using the Excel functionalities to prepare journal lines, use it as a template, and load the data into Business Central.

Let's review the steps how to create Journal Entries via the Configuration Package.

Step 2: Export to Excel from the configuration package and populate the data.

1. Export table 81 General Journal Lines into Excel by selecting Export to Excel under Excel Fast Tab.

Step 3: Select the fields in the following processing order: Account Type, Account No., Posting Date, Document No., Description, Currency Code, Amount, and Amount (LCY)

Use the fields: Amount, Amount (LCY) and Currency Code.
Do not use a Currency field (two incorrect options).

2. Populate required fields in the exported Excel spreadsheet.

Step 4: Import from Excel and validate the relationship. Then apply the data and post to the general journal.

3. To import the file, select Import from Excel under Excel Fast Tab.

4. To finalize the import, choose Apply Data under Functions.

Note:
When importing the opening balance to Business Central by Configuration Package, you cannot import the posted data directly, such as Posted Sales Invoices, Customer Ledger Entries, General Ledger Entries, etc., so you should first import the data before posting, such as Sales Order, General Journal, etc., and then do Post from the page. This is a very common practice.
